Arts of the Inland – March 2024 Newsletter

Are you all ready for some March madness?

We are thrilled about our Spring Show. We will be having an evening dedicated to celebrating the arts within our community. From captivating performances by talented musicians (Suzanne Talada, Sofia Yanez, and Paul Luckey) and dancers (LES Folklorico Dancers) to showcasing exquisite artwork, this event promises to be an unforgettable celebration of creativity.

  • Date: March 23rd, 2024
  • Time: 5-8 pm
  • Location: LaBelle Gallery and Cultural Center

We are gathering unique gifts and other exclusive items in our silent auction, with proceeds going towards our fundraising goals. Additionally, we will have a 50/50 drawing for a chance to win big while supporting our cause.

This event serves as our final big fundraiser of the season, and we are counting on your support to help us reach our goals. With your generosity, we aim to complete our classroom project and reconstruct the front porch, enhancing our facilities for the benefit of our entire community.

Mark your calendars and invite your friends and family to join us for a spectacular evening filled with creativity and inspiration. Also we need members to create some appetizers for the evening and also to please help us gather any items for the silent auction. We are hoping to get some great items. Together, let’s make this event a resounding success and continue to nurture the arts within our community.

Shary Weckwerth will provide our community with another class on the art of using alcohol inks. This time the class will be working on special paper to create art that can be hung in your own home. The time and date are yet to be determined. So be on the lookout for this thrilling class.

At the March 6th board meeting the board changed a gift shop policy: Future artists who wish to sell items in the giftshop will have to become a member and also sit at least one time each month.

The board also discussed the successes of Swampcabbage sales, bathroom passes, and the Oak Stool raffle. A big thank you to Mary Nell Thomas for creating a beautiful painted stool for the raffle! The only problem with Swampcabbage weekend was the need for more volunteers. We had 5 or 6 volunteers for each day but really needed at least 10.

The board also has set up some committee chairs for future endeavors.

Membership Chair- Brandon Jett

Marketing and Publicity Chair- Stella Luckey

Festival and Events Chair- Diana Carkin

Grants Chair- Janet Papinaw

If you are interested in serving on one of these committees please contact the person listed. They may also approach you to help and serve on a committee.

Shary Weckwerth is the appointed member at large and will help the members’ concerns get to the board. Please share any concerns you have with her.

In April we will have the annual Student Showcase. Work from several of the schools and homeschoolers will be displayed during the month. Stella could use help hanging and displaying the work on April 1st and 2nd. Let her know if you are able to help. Because we usually get so much student work we will not be hanging member’s art in April unless they are winners from the show. However we will still need gallery sitters for April so please sign up for a couple of shifts.

Thank you to all the members who help and support Arts of the Inland and our mission to provide art and experiences to the inland communities.
