Arts of the Inland – February 2024 Newsletter

On February 3, we held an “Airing of the Quilts”. Eight local quilters joined us and created a beautiful display at the Gallery. We are hoping to do this again!

February 10 we held a Desert Auction at the Gallery. The fundraiser was a success! We were able to raise over $1300 for our front porch renovation.

Join us on February 16th for a captivating class on Alcohol Inks with Shary – a fantastic opportunity to explore a new artistic medium.

As the Swamp Cabbage Festival approaches on February 24 and 25, we welcome extra help on both Saturday and Sunday, and encourage members to craft items for the gift shop. The board decided at the February 7th meeting to charge entrance to the Gallery during the swamp cabbage hours, 9-5. The entrance fee will be $5 and each paying adult will get a wristband. If the adult then purchases anything from the gallery they may receive a refund of the entrance fee. We hope this will help raise money and encourage sales. Also come support us at the Talk of the Town, February 20, 6-8pm, at the Wharf area.

March is our Spring Fling Show! Receiving for this show is February 27, 3-6pm. If you are interested in entering art for this show please find the Show Prospectus following this newsletter, to be sure that your work will be acceptable. The Spring Fling Art Reception will be held on March 23, 5-8pm. We plan on having live music and a silent auction. We need donations for the silent auction. Donations would be items worth about $50-$300. Donations can be acquired by asking for donations from local businesses. (Ace, Lowes, Tractor Supply, Restaurants, Landscaping companies, Beauty and Health Salons, Walmart, Winn Dixie, etc.) One could also put together a basket of themed goodies. Please help us by making this a night to remember! Please let a board member know if you are able to get a donation.

The next Plein Air Day is scheduled for March 12, at 9:30 AM. Subsequent gatherings will involve planning for the next outdoor location. This event is open to all interested individuals, regardless of membership status, so feel free to bring a friend along to share in the artistic experience.

We are Visual, Literary and Performing Artists of the inland communities of South Florida.  As a 501(c)(3) organization, the Arts of the Inland, along with our patrons and sponsors, are committed and dedicated to recognizing the talent and power of artists in this special area.
Member of  Art Council of Southwest Florida, a 501(c)3 organization which consists of 19 affiliated organizations from Lee, Collier, Charlotte, Hendry & Glades counties with combined membership of over 6,750 artists. Provider of grants to qualified students in artistic endeavors.
