SUMMARY:2026 Children’s Art Show and Contest: “Home & Heritage”
DESCRIPTION:Submissions will only be accepted April 23-26\, 1-5pm \nat Arts of the Inland Gallery\, 471 N. Lee St.\, LaBelle \nChildren’ s Art Show to be on May 2\, 1-4 pm \n General Contest Details\nOpen to ages: 5–17 Artwork must follow the Theme: “Home and Heritage” \nMedium: Any 2D or 3D medium (For example: drawing\, painting\, collage\, mixed media\, sculpture\, photograph) \nOriginal work only • One entry per artist • Size should not exceed 12 x 12 in. \nArtwork must be labeled on the back of artwork\, (label is below) \nAwards \n\nAwards will be given in each age group: 5-7\, 8-12\, 13-17\nWinning artwork will be displayed for the Month of May\nEach age group will have 1st place\, 2nd place and honorable mentions.\n1st place in each group will receive $50\, a ribbon\, and be hung in the Gallery for the month of May.\n2nd Place will receive art supplies\, a ribbon\, and be hung in the Gallery for the month of May.\nHonorable Mentions will receive a ribbon\, and be hung in the Gallery for the month of May.\nAwards will be Saturday\, May 2 at 4pm.\nJudging will focus on originality\, concept\, and artistic skill and the artist’s statement and how it relates to the art created.\n\n****Please attach the form or information to the back of the artwork. \n✂️ Remember….Judging will focus on originality\, concept\, and artistic skill and the artist’s statement and how it relates to the art created. \nArtist’s Statement: *On your own paper* write a short paragraph about your art work: explain how your artwork is connected to your home and heritage. \nTHE THEME: “Home & Heritage”  \nWhat does “Home & Heritage” mean?\n Home is more than a place—it’s where we feel safe\, loved\, and connected. Heritage is the story of who we are\, where we come from\, and the traditions\, memories\, and cultures that shape us. Artists are invited to show what home and heritage mean to them through art. \nHere are some ideas…….These are just ideas. Artwork may reflect: \n\nFamily traditions or stories\nCultural backgrounds or ancestry\nA house\, neighborhood\, or special place\nMemories\, celebrations\, or everyday moments\nNature\, community\, or history tied to “home”\n\n  \nYounger artists may want to focus on what makes home special to them.\nIdeas may include: \n\nTheir house\, room\, or favorite place\nFamily members\, pets\, or routines\nA place where they feel happy or safe\n\n  \nSome artists may explore both home and heritage more deeply.\nIdeas may include: \n\nFamily traditions\, holidays\, or foods\nCultural symbols or stories\nPlaces or people important to their family history\n\n  \nOlder artists are invited to interpret the theme in a personal and meaningful way.\nIdeas may include: \n\nIdentity\, ancestry\, or cultural pride\nChanges to home over time\nConnections between past\, present\, and future\nAbstract or symbolic representations of heritage\n\n
